Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Central Park Overview
Honestly, when I first walked up to the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Central Park on West 58th Street, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s tucked into Hell’s Kitchen in what looks like just another converted building. But you know what really surprised me? The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about what travelers need, not just what looks good in photos.
The location is what really sold me on this place, though. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Columbus Circle, and I found myself cutting through New York every morning on my way to Central Park – there’s something pretty magical about having your coffee while watching the city wake up around the park, especially when you know you don’t have to trek across town to get there. The three-star rating might not sound glamorous, but honestly, it delivers where it counts. The rooms are clean and actually quiet, which is no small feat when you’re this close to all the action. I was worried about street noise – 58th Street can get pretty busy – but the windows do their job well enough that you’ll sleep just fine.
What I really appreciated were the little things that show they get it. The lobby has this 24/7 market thing going on, which saved me more than once when I was coming back late from shows and needed a snack or forgot to grab toiletries. The staff at check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no overselling, just “here’s your key, here’s how the WiFi works, the subway’s that way.” And speaking of the subway, you’re right between the A/C/B/D lines at Columbus Circle and the N/Q/R/W lines at 57th Street, so getting anywhere in the city is actually pretty painless. The breakfast situation is solid too – nothing fancy, but they have real coffee and enough variety that you won’t get sick of it if you’re staying for a few days. I noticed they tend to restock around 8:30 AM, so if you’re an early riser, you’ll have your pick of everything.
Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll be posting Instagram stories about the fancy lobby or the rooftop bar (there isn’t one), but that’s sort of the point. When you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway, you want a place that’s comfortable, reliable, and doesn’t eat up half your travel budget. The fact that you can walk to Lincoln Center, Times Square, and Central Park without breaking a sweat – and still feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual New Yorkers around instead of just tourists – makes it worth considering. I’ve stayed in flashier places in Manhattan that left me more frustrated than relaxed, so sometimes boring done right is exactly what you need.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in New York at least three months ahead for major events like marathons and holiday celebrations, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular Manhattan attractions.

What could be improved: The waiting for the elevator was extremely long. You won’t find a cleaner more comfortable place to stay for the money. – Cosmo from United States – April 15, 2025 (8/10)
Very clean. Super comfortable bed and a very friendly staff. I stay in Manhattan very often for work and recreation and this was by far the best spot for the money. Just book it and see.
Cozy & Friendly. Very Pleasant Stay – Thomas from United States – April 2, 2025 (9/10)
Clean, modern, well lit, easy location to Columbus circle even has a bar service with bar food if you need to get something at night. breakfast included which is usual type of medium tier hotel buffet but it had quite a selection very properly replenished and clean ( residence inn etc..) There is Paris Baguette up the street as well if you want more of a bakery breakfast.
For two it’s quite tight unless you get a room with two queen beds but if for one person perfect. Elevator if you are on lower floors just take the stairs if during busy check in check out hours. Breakfast time yes that may be busy too. However, I didn’t find it to be too much of an issue.A nice hotel on the edge of Hells Kitchen – Robert from United States – December 19, 2024 (7/10)
It was a nice hotel a few blocks west of Columbus Circle.
What could be improved: The fact that there are only 2 elevators, used by both guests & staff, lead to wait times going up or down at many times of the day.
