Redford Hotel Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Redford Hotel on Ludlow Street, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star spot. The Lower East Side can be hit or miss with accommodations, you know? But stepping inside, I was pleasantly surprised by how they’ve managed to capture that authentic downtown vibe without feeling like they’re trying too hard.

The lobby has this understated industrial thing going on – exposed brick, vintage leather chairs that actually look comfortable rather than just Instagram-worthy. What really struck me was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. The guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward the subway; he mentioned that the F train gets packed around 8 AM and suggested I walk to Delancey-Essex instead if I was heading uptown during rush hour. That’s the kind of local insight you don’t get from chain hotels. The rooms themselves are compact but smartly designed – I mean, this is New York, so you’re not getting a palace, but everything feels intentional. The windows are actually decent sized for this part of the city, and if you’re on the right side of the building, you can catch glimpses of people wandering between the vintage shops and late-night eateries that make this area so addictive.

What I really appreciate about staying here is how it puts you right in the thick of things without the tourist trap feeling you get in Midtown. You’re literally steps from Katz’s Deli (yes, that Katz’s), and the whole Orchard Street shopping scene is your backyard. But here’s something most people don’t think about – this neighborhood actually gets pretty quiet after midnight on weeknights, so you’re not dealing with constant sirens and street noise like you might expect. The hotel seems to understand its place in the ecosystem too; there’s no pretentious rooftop bar or overpriced restaurant trying to compete with the incredible food scene right outside their doors. Instead, they focus on the basics done well – reliable WiFi, surprisingly good water pressure, and beds that don’t feel like they came from a budget motel. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because I realized I hadn’t even scratched the surface of what this corner of the Lower East Side had to offer, and honestly, the Redford felt like a comfortable home base rather than just a place to crash between sightseeing marathons.

Early hotels booking in New York requires advance planning during peak seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s Broadway shows, world-class shopping, and American cultural attractions.

Reviews of Redford Hotel

  • Wonderful – Alessandro from Italy – September 3, 2025 (9/10)

The standout features of this hotel are its superb cleanliness, prime location, and the welcoming staff

  • Great little hotel in the heart of the lower Eastside – Alexandra from United States – August 20, 2025 (9/10)

This is a great little hotel in the heart of the lower Eastside. Quiet, clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Short walk to Katz deli and the subway. Parking garage is a block away.

  • Great experience – Emanuele from Italy – August 10, 2025 (9/10)

    The location and the staffs

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Good but not great – Karina from Canada – August 7, 2025 (7/10)

Helpful staff, especially Suzanne who was very accommodating and helpful. The room was clean and the A/C worked well.

What could be improved: The location is close to other neighbourhood which is good, but this area itself is not the best. It’s a party district, the music was extremely loud on Saturday night until the early morning. My first room had a strange smell, so I had to change rooms but the second one was just fine.

  • Very Good – Daniela from Peru – July 27, 2025 (8/10)

    Clean and comfortable

What could be improved: The neighbourhood is not very nice but you can find restaurants, shops and the metro nearby. Just keep in mind that at nights can be not so nice.

  • City centre hotel with good service – Shraddha from India – July 24, 2025 (9/10)

Centrally located, easy access to the subway station and clean rooms. The coffee and water station in the basement was very useful, spent every morning there

What could be improved: Small rooms

  • Nice little room – Anne from France – July 14, 2025 (8/10)

Small hotel, well located, very clean, nice bedroom albeit small. Very nicely done bathroom. No breakfast but coffee at the basement (we found out on the 2d day). Staff was nice. Terrace to chill out.

What could be improved: No internet! Disaster…

  • Good, safe location in New York – Loredanaizv from United Kingdom – July 8, 2025 (9/10)

We stayed for 8 nights, location was great, safe, close to subway and coffee shops, restaurants, markets. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned every day.

What could be improved: Room was on the small side but we managed, double bed is quite small for 2 adults. At night room was a bit noisy from the street, but overall it was all manageable. We would definitely come back as the location in Manhattan was very good and so was the price – quality ratio.

  • Wonderful – Doug from New Zealand – July 6, 2025 (9/10)

    Clean and convenient

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Very comfortable and relaxing base for our New York exploration. – Paul from Australia – June 29, 2025 (9/10)

Comfortable bed, clean facilities, friendly staff (especially Suzanne on the front desk), close to Subway station, 24/7 front desk.

What could be improved: Room air conditioner was noisy but it did keep the room cool during the 4 days when the outside temperature was 38°+. WiFi was an issue, however management was aware of the issue and was actively working towards a resolution.
