Homewood Suites Midtown Manhattan Times Square South Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Homewood Suites Midtown Manhattan Times Square South, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place in Hell’s Kitchen. But you know what? This spot actually surprised me in all the right ways. It sits on West 37th Street, which means you’re far enough from the Times Square chaos to actually sleep at night, but close enough that you can still walk there when the mood strikes (though honestly, after a day or two in New York, you might find yourself avoiding that tourist madness altogether).
The suites here are what really won me over – I mean, having a proper kitchenette in Manhattan feels like striking gold. I ended up cooking breakfast a few mornings just because I could, and after spending $25 on mediocre eggs benedict elsewhere, trust me, that little fridge and microwave become your best friends. The rooms are clean and spacious by NYC standards, though the décor is pretty standard hotel fare – nothing fancy, but it doesn’t feel cheap either. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even with Hell’s Kitchen bustling right outside your window. The staff actually seems to care too, which isn’t always a given in this city where everyone’s perpetually rushed.
The neighborhood is the real selling point here, though. You’ve got some genuinely great hole-in-the-wall spots within a few blocks – there’s this little Dominican place on 9th Avenue that does incredible pernil, and honestly, discovering places like that is half the fun of staying somewhere that’s not right in the tourist bubble. The subway access is solid without being overwhelming; you can hop on the A, C, or E trains pretty easily, and Port Authority is close enough for bus connections but far enough that you’re not dealing with that particular brand of chaos every time you step outside. I stayed here during a pretty busy week in fall, and while the lobby got a bit hectic during check-in times, it never felt overwhelming. The morning crowd tends to clear out early since most people are heading off to do touristy things, so if you’re more of a late starter like me, you’ll have the continental breakfast area mostly to yourself.

Wonderful – Ddev from Ireland – August 16, 2025 (9/10)
Lovely hotel in good central location in Mid Town Manhattan, near to Time Square, Broadway, Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Good breakfast included with room whish is buffet style, reasonably good selection and excellent staff. Room was good, smaller than it looks in picture but had kitchette facilities which was good. Good air con and friendly helpful staff on reception.
What could be improved: Very little – in the 50 metres of 37th Strret from 8th Avenue seems to be where some unfortunate homeless / addicts regularly hanging out. They totally ignore you passing and dont seem to be any threat but it is a slight negative we experienced but also I see referenced in other reviews. There are three or four hotels on the street and it is always busy with pedestrians and traffic.Comfortable Stay. Clean rooms and Nice ambience. – Kehinde from Portugal – August 11, 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast certainly needs to be improved upon. More variety to meet the diverse requirements of the guests.

What could be improved: Early checkout but couldn’t find a reception staff even when I had notified them I was leaving at 5am upon checking in.Spacious rooms, great location, and a solid breakfast made our stay comfortable. Bigger Rooms, Location, Breakfast, and Staff
What could be improved: Nothing major, just kinda wish they had at least acknowledged the request I added after booking—just a simple yes or no would’ve been nice. I had asked if they could leave a surprise note or greeting card since it was not only our first-ever visit to New York, but also my wife’s birthday on the day we were checking in. But yeah… it’s okay.Wonderful – Bridget from New Zealand – July 6, 2025 (9/10)
The location was great- so central and close to everything. The breakfast was awesome and the staff friendly and welcoming. Our room was a good size and clean.
What could be improved: It was hard to get a table for breakfast, but we took our food up to our room which was fine.We had the best stay in New York!! We will definitely come back!! – Ana from Philippines – July 2, 2025 (9/10)
The staffs were so accommodating! The place was very convenient and near the subway.
What could be improved: The alley going to the place is kind of dangerous and scary because of the peopleA very good base in the thick of Midtown Manhattan – close to major attractions and range of subway routes – Mary from United Kingdom – June 30, 2025 (9/10)
Large room – big enough for 3 adults, fridge and kitchenette. Lobby and seating space, gym.
What could be improved: Breakfast was limited and very crowded.
