Hotel Mimosa Overview
I’ll be honest, when I first walked up to Hotel Mimosa on Division Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place tucked into the heart of Chinatown. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem really grew on me during my stay.
The location is actually perfect if you want to experience the real New York – I mean, you’re literally steps away from some of the city’s best dim sum spots and those incredible bakeries where locals line up for fresh pork buns at 7 AM. Division Street itself can get pretty bustling during the day (the fish markets nearby start early, so there’s this constant hum of activity), but honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’re not staying in some sterile midtown box – you’re right in the middle of a neighborhood that’s been the beating heart of Chinese-American culture for decades. The hotel staff clearly knows the area well too; they pointed me toward this tiny tea shop around the corner that I never would have found on my own, and it became my daily ritual.
What really impressed me about Hotel Mimosa was how they’ve managed to create this calm, clean space despite being surrounded by all that urban energy. The rooms aren’t huge – this is New York, after all – but they’re thoughtfully designed with surprising touches like blackout curtains that actually work (trust me, this matters when you’re trying to sleep past sunrise in the city). The bathrooms are compact but modern, and I appreciated details like having enough outlets near the bed for all my devices. The front desk team was genuinely helpful without being overly chatty, which I prefer when I’m dragging my suitcase in after a long flight. One thing to note: if you’re driving, parking around here can be a bit of an adventure, but there’s a garage about two blocks away that the hotel can direct you to. The subway connections are fantastic though – you’re practically on top of several lines, so getting anywhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn is pretty straightforward. I found myself staying out later than planned most nights because getting back was so easy. Overall, it’s one of those places that delivers way more than you’d expect for the price point, especially if you appreciate being somewhere with real character instead of cookie-cutter hotel land.
To book hotel in New York during the iconic Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration, visitors should make reservations well in advance as this global metropolis attracts millions of tourists from around the world.

Clean rooms and friendly staff – Helena from Czech Republic – August 24, 2025 (8/10)
The room was very clean and beds were super comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good and close to metro station. It’s also a bit noisy though because of the trains passing by very close.
Wonderful – Jaroslav from Czech Republic – July 20, 2025 (9/10)
Really nice rooms, little bit smaller but for New York, it is great. Boiling water and ice was free at C floor. Metro station East Broadway is 7 minute walk. Metro station Grand St. is 10 minutes walk.
What could be improved: It is in China Town, so it is quite different than rest of New York, but we did not feel unsafe, so it was not much a problem. It’s actually next to metro lane but windows are great and you can hear it just a little bit. Metro station East Broadway is 7 minute walk. Metro station Grand St. is 10 minutes walk. Will definitely come back! – Zoey from United States – July 14, 2025 (9/10)
Great location in Chinatown, staff was so nice and very helpful. Room was a good size for New York, spacious shower, and smart-tv. Loved getting a list of food recommendations upon check-in
What could be improved: A full length mirror and an iron were the only things missing!Pretty comfortable convenient location – Stephen from United Kingdom – July 11, 2025 (9/10)
Easy check-in. Air-conditioning worked well. Good lighting and sockets. Relatively spacious well functioning bathroom. Useful that they provide hot water, microwave ice and plates and cutlery in basement
What could be improved: Rooms are very compact no convenient space for luggage. No kettle in roomWonderful – Mariia from Canada – June 22, 2025 (9/10)
Location, price

A perfect location to explore the lower east side, Chinatown and Brooklyn. The bed was really comfortable and the shower in our room was great.
What could be improved: Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in roomOverally great place at reasonable price for New York. Would’ve visited again, highly recommend for short stays. – Adam from Poland – May 15, 2025 (9/10)
It was cozy and clean. Hygiene utilities provided. Stuff was nice and helpful. Good location. Plenty of dinning places nearby (at check in I’ve received couple of pages of places worth visiting), close to subway. AC running in hot days.
What could be improved: Could have hear neighbors sometimes. There’s bridge and subway line across the street so it could be a little noisy, but with closed window it barely heard.Simple and convenient – Shana from United Kingdom – May 14, 2025 (8/10)
The room was small but clean. Good value overall, especially considering location. Staff were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Our room was a bit bare. I would have appreciated a coffee machine and real glasses (not plastic cups).
