Hilton Garden Inn New York – Times Square Central Overview

You know what struck me first about Hilton Garden Inn New York – Times Square Central? It’s actually tucked away on 42nd Street in a way that feels surprisingly calm for being smack in the middle of all that Times Square madness. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the neon chaos, but when you duck into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense of “okay, I can breathe now.”

The thing about this three-star spot is that it gets the balance right – and honestly, that’s harder to find in New York than you’d think. The rooms aren’t trying to be fancy, but they’re smart about space, which matters when you’re paying Manhattan prices. I actually loved the little kitchenette setup they have going on; there’s a mini-fridge that’s actually cold and a microwave that doesn’t take five minutes to heat up leftover pizza (trust me, I tested this). The beds are solid too – not too soft, not too firm, just that sweet spot where you don’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with the mattress all night. And here’s something I really appreciated: the windows actually block out most of the street noise, which is no small feat when you’re this close to Port Authority and all those tourist buses rumbling by at all hours.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it handles the whole Times Square thing without getting swallowed by it. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – like, really knows it. The front desk guy told me about this little deli on 41st that’s open 24/7 and makes ridiculous sandwiches for half what you’d pay at the tourist traps. And when I asked about getting to Brooklyn without dealing with the subway nightmare during rush hour, he had three different routes mapped out in his head. The lobby stays busy but never feels frantic, even when there are families with rolling suitcases everywhere and business travelers tapping away on laptops. There’s this kind of organized energy that works. I will say, if you’re looking for a rooftop bar or some Instagram-worthy amenities, this isn’t that kind of place – but honestly, you’re in Times Square, so step outside if you want a scene. What you get here is a really solid home base that doesn’t drain your wallet or your energy, and sometimes that’s exactly what a New York trip needs.

Hotels near me in New York offer convenient access to iconic landmarks, where guests can easily walk to Empire State Building, Central Park, and world-renowned restaurants in diverse neighborhoods.

  • Enjoyed our stay at Garden Inn. – Dorothy from United States – June 5, 2025 (9/10)

Staff were friendly, Super-easy to get to Times Sq. and Broadway theaters.

What could be improved: We took a room with a cut-out for a storage closet in the hallway, so extra tiny. It was fine but if that matters to others u may want to ask at check- in.

This hotel is in a great central location.
The staff were very friendly and super helpful.
The rooms are on the smaller side, but it was great for just the two of us.

I saw a few historical comments about elevator issues; but, we did not experience any issues.

Getting into the elevators, at the ground level, is a little cramped.

If we visit NYC again, we will definitely consider staying here again.

  • Wonderful – Jessica from United States – March 16, 2025 (9/10)

The staff was nice in the restaurant at night and for breakfast

What could be improved: My bill was more than what I booked and I had 2 charges on my card. I asked the hotel for an itemized bill and they could not give it to me. Booking.com can you?

  • War perfekt – Tezcan from Switzerland – March 14, 2025 (8/10)

    Location

  • Overall, the staff and cleanliness were amazing and the location is ideal. – Rasheedah from United States – March 13, 2025 (8/10)

The convenience of everything. The staff was very friendly

What could be improved: I did not like that the tv was outdated. Nobody wants to watch regular channels anymore. They need to add streaming asap. Breakfast was also not good…I asked for eggs scrambled with cheese they literally threw two slabs of cheese on my eggs and hoped it melted which it didn’t. Bacon and potatoes were soggy.
