Motto By Hilton New York City Times Square Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Motto By Hilton New York City Times Square, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star hotel smack in the middle of tourist central. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The location on West 48th is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of everything without dealing with the absolute chaos of being right on Broadway itself. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the TKTS steps, but when you duck into the hotel lobby, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s honestly hard to find anywhere in New York during peak tourist season. The design feels fresh and modern – sort of minimalist but not in that cold, sterile way some boutique places go for. The rooms are compact (this is Manhattan, after all), but they’re cleverly laid out with these custom-built storage solutions that actually work. I was impressed by how they managed to fit a decent workspace and still have room to open your suitcase without having to rearrange the entire room.
What really won me over was the attention to small details that matter when you’re dealing with the sensory overload of Times Square. The windows actually block out most of the street noise – and trust me, I’m someone who usually needs earplugs to sleep in this neighborhood. The shower pressure was surprisingly strong, which is more of a luxury than you’d think in older NYC buildings. The lobby stays busy but never feels chaotic, probably because they’ve got this efficient check-in system that doesn’t leave you standing around forever with your luggage. I also appreciated that the staff seemed to actually know the area beyond just the obvious tourist spots – when I asked about a good place to grab coffee that wasn’t Starbucks, the front desk guy pointed me toward this little spot on 9th Avenue that locals actually use. The fitness center is small but functional, and honestly, if you’re staying in Times Square, you’re probably going to be walking everywhere anyway. One thing to keep in mind is that this isn’t the kind of place with a fancy rooftop bar or elaborate room service menu – it’s more about giving you a solid, comfortable base to crash between whatever Broadway shows or shopping expeditions you’ve got planned. But sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’re paying Times Square prices for everything else.

Everything was exceptional
What could be improved: Size of the room is really small but I guess that’s New York. Bathroom and toilet can do with something else rather than opaque glassPerfect! – Catherine from United Kingdom – August 30, 2025 (9/10)

Super clean hotel with nice amenities. Layout of the room was great for me. Location was right in Times Square and very walkable to everything I wanted.
What could be improved: Soundproof between the rooms wasn’t great. One of the bed lights could not be turned off which annoyed me at night.Good – Tombs from United Kingdom – July 31, 2025 (7/10)

Staff was great, location was great, price was great, beds were comfortable.
What could be improved: Rooms were tight for three, definitely got the living in the city experience.Great theater district stay – Stephanie from United States – July 6, 2025 (9/10)
Rooms are compact but well designed and designed to maximize use of space. Nice design aesthetic, too, Proximity to theaters saved a lot of wear and tear, I walked most everywhere I needed to go. They give you a credit for use at the Alderman, a high-quality bar/restaurant/coffee place based on NY history.
What could be improved: I wish they had a box for dropping off your key, I kept getting steered into a line for checking out. I also wish they would have a small chair in the room — it would not have added much in terms of space.
