Hilton Club The Central at 5th New York Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hilton Club The Central at 5th New York, I wasn’t expecting much from what’s technically a three-star property. But you know what? This place completely surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s tucked right on East 48th Street, and while it doesn’t have all the marble and gold leaf of the fancy Midtown hotels, there’s something refreshingly straightforward about it that actually works in its favor.

The location is absolutely killer – I mean, you’re literally a few blocks from everything that matters. Grand Central is close enough that you can hear the gentle rumble of trains if you really listen (not in an annoying way, more like urban white noise), and you can walk to Rockefeller Center in about ten minutes. What I really love is how it sits right in that sweet spot between the tourist chaos of Times Square and the more buttoned-up Financial District. You’re in the thick of New York without feeling completely overwhelmed by it. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too – they’ll point you toward the good coffee place around the corner instead of just handing you a generic tourist map.

Here’s what really got me though: the rooms are way more spacious than you’d expect for Midtown Manhattan. I stayed in one of their club units, and honestly, it felt more like a small apartment than a hotel room. The kitchen setup is legit functional – not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation, but actual counter space and decent cookware. Perfect if you’re staying for more than a couple nights and want to grab groceries from the Whole Foods nearby instead of dropping fifty bucks on room service every meal. The beds are solid (I’m picky about this stuff), and the windows actually open, which is rarer than you’d think in New York hotels. Some rooms face the street side where you get a bit more city energy, others look toward the courtyard and are quieter – just depends what you’re after. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator situation during busy checkout times, but that’s pretty much every Manhattan hotel unless you’re paying Plaza prices. Overall, this place gets the balance right between comfort and practicality, and at this price point in this neighborhood, that’s honestly impressive.

New York hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in this never-sleeping city, known for its Broadway shows, world-class museums, and legendary shopping districts.

Reviews of Hilton Club The Central at 5th New York

  • Exceptional – Aljaž from Slovenia – September 9, 2025 (10/10)

The location is great – it’s easy to reach using the public transport and lots of famous sights are withing walking distance. Midtown East probably isn’t the most romantic location NY has to offer but it’s a very safe one, even late at night, and that’s definitely a big plus. The staff was very helpful and the rooms are pretty spacious and very clean. We had a nice view of Top of the Rock from our room. The windows also blocked most of the noise coming from the busy nearby avenues. The bathrooms are equipped with hi-tech "Japanese" toilets – this was my first close encounter with one of these and now I totally want one in my home bathroom as well 🙂

Room is surprisingly spacious, the quality of the furniture was very good and it was cleaned every single day to keep the perfectly clean condition. We had access to the gym also which was great. Staff was happy to help us with every request. And on top – the location is perfect – very central, and close to numerous metro lines.

Location is incredible. Close to everything, but not in the middle of everything. We had cleaning everyday, and the daily bottle of water was a nice plus. Extremely comfortable beds, great view, quick check in. It couldn’t have been a better stay.
