Solita Soho Hotel Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Solita Soho Hotel on Grand Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The building sits right there in Little Italy (though let’s be real, this stretch is more like the edge where Little Italy bleeds into Nolita), and from the outside it’s got this understated thing going on. Not flashy, but you can tell someone put thought into it. The lobby actually surprised me – it’s got this boutique feel that punches way above what you’d expect from a three-star place, with warm lighting and this sort of industrial-chic vibe that works really well in this neighborhood.

What struck me most about staying here was how it manages to feel both intimate and connected to the city at the same time. The rooms aren’t huge – I mean, this is New York, so you know what you’re getting into – but they’re smartly designed with these nice touches like proper blackout curtains (thank god) and surprisingly good water pressure. You know what I really appreciated? The windows actually open, which is rarer than you’d think in newer hotels. Some rooms face Grand Street, so there’s a bit of traffic noise, but honestly it’s just part of the city soundtrack. The wifi was solid too, which matters when you’re trying to figure out dinner plans or upload photos.

The location is actually pretty perfect if you want to feel like you’re in a real neighborhood rather than tourist central. You’ve got Ferrara Bakery literally around the corner – and trust me, their cannoli are worth the inevitable sugar crash. Spring Street is right there with all the shopping, and you can easily walk to SoHo proper or even down to the Financial District if you’re feeling ambitious. The subway situation is decent too; you’ve got a few different lines within reasonable walking distance, though “reasonable” depends on how you feel about cobblestones with luggage. I found the staff genuinely helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations, not just the usual scripted responses. One of the front desk guys actually steered me away from a tourist trap I was considering and suggested this amazing little wine bar on Mott Street instead. That kind of local insight makes a difference, you know? Sure, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities, but Solita gets the fundamentals right and does it with enough personality that you’ll actually remember staying there.

Hotel in New York booking should be done early, especially during holiday seasons when the city hosts internationally celebrated events and concerts at Madison Square Garden and other iconic venues.

Reviews of Solita Soho Hotel

  • The Solita SoHo hotel really enabled me and my partner to have a great experienec on our trip to NYC – Alessi from United States – September 1, 2025 (9/10)

I really liked the location, as it nestled in SoHo in walking distance from all the best stores and restaurants. I also loved the attentiveness of the staff and front desk, which made the environment feel hospitable and safe.

What could be improved: The rooms of course could be bigger, but for New York City and for the price, I cannot complain for what I received. Also the fact that there is only one elevator is a little inconvenient, but again, this is expected for NYC.

  • Perfect New York hotel – Hanneke from Netherlands – July 19, 2025 (9/10)

Very nice location and friendly staff.

  • Wonderful – Laura from United States – July 2, 2025 (9/10)

It was clean, comfortable, and in a good location. The staff was very friendly and polite.

What could be improved: The rooms are extremely small but that is how it is in NYC.

  • Very Good – Muhammad from Saudi Arabia – June 29, 2025 (8/10)

Neat & clean, location, quick check in & out, very friendly and cooperative reception staff, very welcoming and well responsive.

What could be improved: Relatively small room, very small and uncomfortable lobby, no place as sitting / waiting area, Some extra room charges ($50, not included in initial booking). they deduct/ hold 1st night room charges before check in but do not include that in final payment on check in and charge full duration payment. They claim it to be reimbursed/ released by banks. Need a clear and straightforward process for payment.

  • Location is great, staff is great, bed is comfortable. 👍 – James from United States – June 3, 2025 (9/10)

It was great for my work needs and convenient for all my meetings around the city.

The staff is super friendly too.

What could be improved: Not much that can be done about it, but the view of the HVAC equipment isn’t very appealing (but Im never in the room except to sleep, so it doesn’t matter). 🤣

  • Amazing stay for 4 days – Andrea from Italy – June 2, 2025 (9/10)

Really comfortable beds and a nice shower.
We were on the last floor and we had a great view.

What could be improved: Sometimes a bit of noise from people in the corridor, outside our door.

  • Good – Claudia from Brazil – May 13, 2025 (7/10)

The location is amazing and also the staff.

What could be improved: The room is too small for 3 people.

  • Very Good – Kirk from United States – May 4, 2025 (8/10)

    Great location. Clean rooms

What could be improved: A little noisy

  • Nice hotel in great location – Seta from United States – April 22, 2025 (9/10)

    Friendly staff, clean room

What could be improved: Some noise in hallway, but that’s to be expected

  • Brill hotel. Staff nice and attentive. Clean – Nicola from United Kingdom – April 22, 2025 (9/10)

This is third stay at solita soho. For us it serves its purpose on location. Close to lower manhattan, canal st, Brooklyn bridge and subways.

What could be improved: The bed was slightly firmer than I go for but didn’t deter me in any way.
