Blue style Room Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Blue style Room tucked away on West 139th Street in Harlem, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name doesn’t exactly scream luxury, you know? But honestly, this three-star spot surprised me in the best possible way. It’s one of those places where you realize that sometimes the most authentic experiences happen when you venture beyond the tourist bubble.

The location is actually perfect if you want to experience the real New York. You’re right in the heart of Harlem, which means you’re surrounded by incredible soul food joints, historic brownstones, and that unmistakable neighborhood energy that makes this city special. I mean, you can walk to the Apollo Theater in about ten minutes, and there’s this amazing little coffee shop just two blocks down that locals have been going to for decades – the kind of place where the barista remembers your order after the second visit. The subway access is solid too, though I’d recommend getting familiar with the area during daylight hours first if you’re not used to navigating the city.

What really impressed me about this place was how they’ve managed to create something genuinely stylish without trying too hard. The rooms have this clean, minimalist vibe that actually feels refreshing after walking through the bustling streets outside. The beds are surprisingly comfortable – I’m talking actually get-a-good-night’s-sleep comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. And you know what? The soundproofing is better than you’d expect for a place at this price point, which matters when you’re on a street that can get lively on weekend nights. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re settled in well, and they’re full of recommendations that go way beyond the typical tourist traps. During my stay, the front desk guy told me about this incredible jazz spot just a few subway stops away that I never would have found otherwise. Sure, it’s not going to have all the bells and whistles of those massive Midtown hotels, but that’s sort of the point – you’re getting an authentic slice of New York life without paying those ridiculous Manhattan prices. If you’re the type of traveler who’d rather explore real neighborhoods and discover hidden gems instead of staying in some sterile hotel corridor, this place makes a lot of sense.

Reviews of Blue style Room

  • Wonderful – Karolina from Lithuania – June 2, 2025 (9/10)

We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome – the host had even left us some face masks as a thoughtful touch! In the kitchen, there were always snacks available, along with tea, coffee, and even oatmeal that we could prepare ourselves. The location is quite convenient, with easy access to everything via the nearby subway.

The bathroom was fully stocked with everything needed for personal care – shower, shower gel, shampoo, creams, and even perfumes. In the room, we found cozy bathrobes, as well as an iron and a hairdryer, which was very convenient.

Check-in was super easy. The apartment was clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others!

  • Wonderful – Selma from Italy – May 4, 2025 (9/10)

The room is big and cosy, the owner is extremely nice and helpful, he also left us food in the kitchen for breakfast, which was great. A coffee machine is also available. The bathroom has shampoos and everything. A lot of nice touches in the house to make people feel welcome, we really appreciated it. The neighborhood is lively and super convenient, the subway brings directly to times square in a few stops. Overall I recommend it and we would choose it again.

What could be improved: A shared bathroom will always be an inconvenience obviously. It’s shared between three rooms so if the house is full you may need to cue. I do not recommend the area for solo travellers. The neighborhood is amazing but there are not enough lights at night, can feel a bit dangerous.

  • Lovely place to stay – Nuriza from Kazakhstan – April 17, 2025 (10/10)

I highly recommend this place! It’s very clean, cozy, and quiet. Both the kitchen and bathroom are fully stocked with all the essentials, and there were even some snacks in the kitchen — such a thoughtful touch!

  • So perfect place – 재민 from United States – April 1, 2025 (10/10)

    Everything was really perfect

  • Exceptional – Izabela from Poland – December 18, 2024 (10/10)

A pleasant stay. Very friendly and helpful owner, sweet treat, location close to metro. Highly recommend

  • Very Good – James from United States – December 1, 2024 (8/10)

Price was great and host was very responsive

What could be improved: The shared bathroom experience was a first for us, and the couple staying were inconsiderate. Long showers, over an hour first thing in the morning for both

  • Five stars out of five! Real NYC experience. Max is a rockstar and a bloody proper one. – Robert from United Kingdom – October 9, 2024 (10/10)

Max was an outstanding host. Attentive, intuitive, and always available, he combined responsiveness with the grace of a gentleman and the intellect of a scholar, making him a pleasure to be around. His attention to detail in both the upkeep of his home and the care of his guests was remarkable. The provision of an unlimited selection of snacks, drinks, coffees, sodas, and even an array of exotic noodles was truly impressive. On top of this, the thoughtful touch of a leopard-print evening gown added a unique charm to the experience. The part of Harlem where his home is situated felt authentic and vibrant, yet safe, with excellent public transport links. In every way, my stay was exceptional, and I would highly recommend it. Without hesitation, I look forward to returning—five stars out of five!

What could be improved: That I had to leave! I wish I could stay for a bit longer.

  • Exceptional – Aleksandra from Poland – September 23, 2024 (10/10)

I trurly recommend staying in this apartment. Everything was clean. The AC was pretty convinient. Contact with the owner was correct. A nice surprise were snacks and drinks in room. The metro was about 6 streets away.

  • Quick, easy, and the host is accessible! – Diandra from United States – August 27, 2024 (9/10)

The room itself was very clean and the amenities (bathroom and kitchen) were far better than I expected! Snacks and other things are included.

What could be improved: No but problems at all just a small tapping on the AC unit coming from the upstairs AC unit. Didnt bother me at all.

  • Wonderful – Miroslava from Slovakia – April 30, 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is very clean. There were snacks and coffee. The owner takes a god care of it and puts effort in it.

What could be improved: We got mugged in the street near the apartment, but I guess it can happen anywhere in New York. So we had to change our accommodation, because we didnt feel safe anymore.
