The area feels residential and real, with families and longtime locals going about their daily lives. Sure, it’s not Times Square, but that’s precisely the point. You’ll save a decent chunk of money staying here compared to hotels in more touristy areas, and the subway connections mean you’re still only 20-30 minutes from anywhere you actually want to be. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’re experiencing authentic New York rather than just visiting it, this place delivers that in spades.
