Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan SoHo Village on Charlton Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard hotel building. But you know what? Sometimes the best places surprise you, and this three-star spot actually grew on me during my stay.

The thing about staying in SoHo is that you’re right in the thick of things without being in Times Square madness, and this hotel gets that balance right. You’re literally a few blocks from Houston Street (which, if you don’t know, locals pronounce “HOW-ston,” not like the Texas city), so you can walk to some incredible restaurants and boutiques without dealing with the tourist crowds. I mean, I grabbed coffee at this little place on Spring Street most mornings and felt like I was living like a local for a few days. The front desk staff actually knew the neighborhood well too – they steered me toward a fantastic Italian spot on Thompson Street that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Now, the rooms themselves are exactly what you’d expect from a solid mid-range hotel – clean, comfortable beds, and honestly pretty quiet considering you’re in New York. The air conditioning worked great (crucial in summer), and I appreciated that they had actual blackout curtains, not those flimsy things that let street light seep in all night. The bathroom was small but functional, though the shower pressure could’ve been better – not a dealbreaker, but worth mentioning. What I really liked was the little workspace by the window; I actually got some work done there, which doesn’t always happen when I’m traveling. The WiFi was solid throughout the building too.

The hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which I respect. There’s no fancy rooftop bar or spa, but there’s a decent fitness center that’s open 24/7, and the lobby area is comfortable enough to sit and plan your day. Check-in was smooth – no long lines or attitude from staff. Parking is expensive (this is Manhattan, after all), but there’s a garage nearby if you’re crazy enough to drive here. I stuck with the subway, and you’re close to the 1 train at Houston Street, plus the N/Q/R/W lines aren’t far either. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night compared to other parts of the city, so I slept well most nights, though you’ll still hear the occasional siren – it’s New York, that’s just part of the soundtrack. For the price point and location, especially if you want to explore SoHo’s galleries and shopping without paying luxury hotel rates, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

Perfect for a long weekend stay. Great location and value for money compared with similar properties

Beds really comfy, daily clean was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful. Air-con worked a treat and no issues with lifts. Great location, easy to get around the city and some great eating places within walking distance.

What could be improved: Room not the largest and view nothing to write home about but not major issues as did not spend a great deal of time in the room.

Really great value for the West Village and close to sub stop and a Dunkin Donuts!!!

The staff went out of their way to be helpful! The rooms don't have refrigerators and I needed something to keep some meds cold and one was sent to my room and there was no additional charge!
