The subway entrance at Times Square-42nd Street is right there, obviously, but if you’re feeling ambitious, you can actually walk to Central Park in about fifteen minutes, or head down to the Garment District if you want to see a slightly grittier, more authentic side of the city. And late at night, when Times Square gets that weird mix of tourists and theater people spilling out of shows, you’re close enough to soak it all in but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the noise all night long. The area gets pretty quiet after midnight, which surprised me – I was expecting sirens and street noise constantly, but West 46th is actually pretty residential once you get away from the main drags. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator situation during busy times – there’s clearly not enough of them for a building this size, so you might find yourself waiting a bit during check-in rushes. But honestly, for the price point and location, this place delivers exactly what it promises without any of the unpleasant surprises that can make or break a New York trip.

  The location was excellent. The hotel was clean and the room was decent size. There was complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby in the mornings and cold water during the day.
  
  What could be improved: The AC made an awfully loud noise so we didn’t really sleep properly during our stay since it was too hot sleep without the AC. The bathroom had a glass door so you could see inside and hear everything.
