Hilton Garden Inn New York/Tribeca Overview

You know what struck me first about Hilton Garden Inn New York/Tribeca? The lobby actually feels calm – which honestly caught me off guard for a hotel sitting right on 6th Avenue. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Holland Tunnel entrance, but somehow they’ve managed to create this surprisingly peaceful bubble inside. The three-star rating might make you think “basic business hotel,” but there’s more going on here than that suggests.

The location is what really makes this place work. You’re in proper Tribeca territory – not the tourist-trap version, but where actual New Yorkers live and work. Walk two minutes south and you hit some of the best coffee shops in the city (there’s this little place on Varick that does incredible cortados). Head north toward Canal Street and you’re in prime shopping territory, but you can also duck into those narrow side streets where it still feels like old New York. The subway situation is honestly pretty solid too – you’ve got the 1 train at Canal, plus the A/C/E if you walk a bit further. I’ve stayed here during both crazy busy periods and quieter winter weeks, and the neighborhood rhythm changes completely depending on when you visit.

What I really appreciate is how they handle the practical stuff that other hotels mess up. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Manhattan, after you all – but they’re smart about storage and the beds are actually comfortable (not that weird hotel-firm thing some places do). The fitness center is small but has decent equipment, and honestly, it’s usually empty early morning if you want to squeeze in a workout before the city gets crazy. Room service comes from their little restaurant downstairs, and while it’s nothing fancy, the breakfast sandwich is surprisingly good and arrives hot. Parking is available but expensive – though honestly, that’s just New York. If you’re driving, I’d suggest finding a spot in one of the lots a few blocks south; it’ll save you some cash. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood well, which is rarer than you’d think. They gave me solid recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t the usual touristy places, and when my flight got delayed, they were genuinely helpful about late check-in. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than in some generic hotel bubble.

Apartments in New York provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional delis and experience daily life in historic neighborhoods like Greenwich Village and SoHo.

Reviews of Hilton Garden Inn New York/Tribeca

  • Not great but definitely good for the price. – James from United States – June 2, 2025 (8/10)

Heart of where we were staying. Valet service. Friendly. Clean

What could be improved: Slow elevator. Expensive breakfast. Bed not great.

  • Nice and comfortable – Jene from United States – April 21, 2025 (8/10)

    location – very clean

What could be improved: the hot water is way way too hot. someone is gonna scald themselves!!

  • It was okay – Rhiannon from Australia – February 25, 2025 (7/10)

I had paid prior to checking in, yet when I checked in they charged me again. It’s been 3 weeks and I’m still yet to receive my refund. This is incredibly frustrating. They haven’t responded to my messages on this platform or given me an update. Please let them know when you check in that you have paid prior if you do. The shower wasn’t great, water pressure was lacking and inconsistent hot water, the room is tidy but small which is common for NYC. Great location and friendly staff.

  • Staff is amazing! Location is great! Rooms are very small for the price, towels are too old and there are no cups for pl – Silvana from United States – January 24, 2025 (7/10)

Location is just on the right place.

What could be improved: Pillows were uncomfortable, there were no glasses to hold the toothbrush, towels were old and looked dirty even though they were not.
Very tight space for the money I spent.

  • Very Good – Alyssa from United States – July 31, 2024 (8/10)

    The location was perfect.

What could be improved: The housekeeping never came in our room! Not sure why. They never had enough towels. And we ran out of toilet paper. We called to get some more, they came and brought Kleenex 😂😂😂 and he when we corrected him on what we really needed, he never came back. I wish I was making this up but I’m not. We were not rude or anything like that, it was just incompetence I guess.

  • Not as great a area as we thought – Pierre from South Africa – July 17, 2024 (7/10)

Big bathroom and close to metro

What could be improved: Noisy streets, neighbourhood not so great to walk around at night.

  • Very Good – Flavia from Argentina – April 18, 2024 (8/10)

The location is great. The hotel is not big so you can go up and down really quick (no waiting for lifts).

What could be improved: The heat was really old and made a loud noise so we had to turn it off during night. We asked for extra blankets since the room was really cold.

  • Good – Menachem from Israel – March 16, 2024 (7/10)

the restaurant’s food and the hotel’s employees

What could be improved: It’s a good level, not the highest

  • Most spacious pleasant rooms for our stay and staff are really friendly. – Narelle from Australia – February 26, 2024 (7/10)

Extremely friendly staff. Very large spacious room with the added touches of the fridge and coffee area being really nice. Loads of power points for charging devices. Reasonably nice area and so close to the subway.

What could be improved: It is a little dated. Has no room service at all. The tv stations were hit and miss and don’t have most of the good major stations. It can be a little noisy with the busy intersection and rumbling of the subway at night. The air conditioning is loud also. Rooms are only cleaned every second day and even that happened after 3 days when I asked.

  • Pretty good – Michele from Canada – February 9, 2024 (7/10)

Clean room with comfy beds. Great location.

What could be improved: Room was quite dark. Only one bedside lamp fir 2 people no black out curtains on window so light shine in. Would’ve been nice to have proper glasses fir water and mugs for coffee rather than paper cups.
