I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Mid Town East Street Apartments Next to Times Square, I was expecting some tourist trap with paper-thin walls and overpriced everything. But you know what? This three-star spot in NoMad actually surprised me in the best way possible. Sure, it’s not luxury, but there’s something refreshingly straightforward about it that I really appreciated during my stay.

The location is honestly perfect if you want that quintessential New York experience without being right in the middle of the Times Square chaos (though you’re close enough to walk there in about ten minutes). Being in NoMad means you’re surrounded by some fantastic coffee shops and those little corner delis that New Yorkers actually go to – I mean, there’s this bodega on the corner where the guy behind the counter remembered my usual order by day three. The building itself has that slightly worn-around-the-edges charm that feels authentically NYC, not like some sanitized hotel chain. I stayed on the fourth floor, and while you can definitely hear the city humming below, it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you awake – more like that constant urban lullaby that somehow becomes comforting after a night or two.

What really sold me on this place was how it felt more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying in a hotel. The rooms have actual character – mine had this quirky little alcove that was perfect for spreading out my maps and planning the next day’s adventures. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, too. When I asked about getting to Brooklyn, instead of just pointing me to the nearest subway, they walked me through which car to get on for the best connection and warned me about the weekend service changes. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 3 PM because they seemed pretty slammed when I showed up early with my bags. The Wi-Fi actually works (shocking, I know), and there’s something to be said for having a kitchenette when you want to grab fresh bagels from the place down the street and make proper coffee instead of that hotel room instant stuff. It’s not going to win any design awards, but honestly? After spending days walking around the city, all I wanted was a clean, comfortable place to crash that didn’t feel like every other generic hotel room I’ve stayed in. This place delivers on that promise without trying too hard to be something it’s not.

  The location was excellent, right in Manhattan, walking distance to Grand Central Station and Mid-Town. the neighbourhood is safe and clean. the 2 bedrooms were very spacious and mattress very comfortable.
  Maurice, the host, was very kind with us. We asked him a few favours and he was very helpful.
  Easy to find coffeeshops and stores around.
  
  What could be improved: Maybe, the apartment is a bit small for 6 people, but if there are 6 of you, you can still stay comfortably there. At the end of the day you don’t go to New York to stay at the hotel.

  La struttura è molto carina e situata in posizione perfetta per visitare New York sia a piedi che con mezzi pubblici, all’interno dell’appartamento c’è tutto il necessario per soggiornare, la via dove è situata e’ un po’ rumorosa e le tante finestre non aiutano a insonorizzare, a parte questo particolare tutto perfetto.

  Die Lage war das Beste. Wohnung war sauber und für New York um den Preis okay. Der Vermieter gab uns viele gute Tipps. Wasserkocher, Kühl/Gefrierkombi, Herd und Föhn… Alles vorhanden 👍🏻 und an die schiefen Stufen im Stiegenhaus und der unebene Fußboden in der Wohnung gewöhnt man sich schnell. Gute und sichere Gegend mit vielen indischen Lokalen in unmittelbarer Nähe.
  
  What could be improved: Wir waren zu 5. und es war ein kleiner Schrank mit zwei schmalen Türen ca. 60cm breit und 170cm hoch. Für 4 Erwachsene und ein Kind echt zu wenig Platz, vor allem da man im Wohnzimmer ja auch keinen Platz mehr hat, wenn die Couch ausgezogen ist und die Luftmatratze für das Kind auch noch dort steht.
